Different types of Helicopter Cost

Different factors for Helicopter Cost

1. What type of helicopter is it?

First and foremost, the most cost you may expect would be the cost to buy the helicopter in the first place. Even still, this is not a simple answer due to how many different types of helicopter there are, and thus different helicopter cost to think about.

The most common private helicopter is the Robinson R22, which starts at around $150,000 dollars. Nothing to sneeze at, but there are others to consider as well. Considering that price varies on size and model, it can get much worse from here.

For example: the Augusta Westland AW101 starts at $21 million!

2. Cost of maintenance

Alright, so after much shopping and delegation, you've got your helicopter. Now comes the hard part: maintaining it. This brings another factor to your helicopter cost that most people don't want to think about, but it's still very real.

Cost of fuel, wear and tear on parts that needs replacing (which we offer here in our online store), and the cost of a pilot if your not the one flying it. Even insurance is much worse compared to how much we spend to insure our cars; for reference.

But there may be one way to trim down on your helicopter cost: buy used.

By risking paying more for maintenance costs, it would make it easier to purchase a helicopter if you bought one that was previously sold or retired. Yes this 'new' heli may have more issues under the hood, but it's without a doubt more accessible. For example, a model called 'Sherpa' runs around $200,000 and it has room for two!
