The tail gearbox is a right angle drive and reduction system. This is supported and protected in an aluminium alloy housing. The bevel gear shafts rotate in taper roller bearings which absorb radial loads and axial thrust. The bevel gears are splash lubricated. The control plate ensures blade pitch charge by transmitting the movement from the control bellcrank.
